- 《维纳斯的诞生》约作于1485年，是托斯卡纳现存最早的大幅布面绘画，长期被归到洛伦佐·迪·皮耶尔弗朗切斯科·德·美第奇名下，今藏佛罗伦萨乌菲兹美术馆。画面是一段逆风推进的路程：左侧一对相拥的风神悬空吹气，中央的女神赤身立在扇贝上，右侧岸边的时序女神张开一件缀花斗篷等她登岸。全画几乎没有可信的投影，体积感被压到最低，人物靠轮廓线与极薄的色层立住。画布由两幅亚麻横向缝合，上色前只刷一层掺石膏的动物胶底浆，不施白底，颜色因此透亮；波提切利用“瘦”蛋彩反复薄罩，肉色薄到能看见布纹。金以两种方式出现：笔涂的金线勾发丝与贝棱，贴上去的金箔点出翅羽与橙叶上的高光，许多贴金是在画作连同画框安放就位之后才补的…
