- 一八八八年九月中旬，梵高在法国南部阿尔勒的论坛广场东北角支起画架，对着街角那家通宵营业的咖啡馆画下这幅夜景。他把整幅画押在一种对抗上：遮阳篷下浓得化不开的柠檬黄，对头顶那片钴蓝的天。街面的鹅卵石被煤气灯照亮，一块块短笔触铺向远方，被照到的一面是暖橙，背光的一面压成蓝紫。画里几乎没有黑色。他在给妹妹的信中说，这是一幅没有黑色的夜晚画，只有美丽的蓝、紫、绿，被灯照亮的广场呈淡硫磺色。露台桌边坐着十几个人，白衣侍者穿行其间；有人据此提出，这可能是一幅改换了构图的《最后晚餐》，呼应他一心想建的画家公社，但他从未在信里承认。它现藏于荷兰奥特洛的克勒勒-米勒博物馆，也是他第一幅以星空为背景的作品——同月…
