- 《雾海上的旅人》馆方著录作于约 1817 年（通常写作 1818 年），无签名也无日期，是弗里德里希少见的竖幅作品，今藏汉堡美术馆。画中人背对观者站在岩顶，深绿及膝外套，右手叉在腰侧，登山杖斜抵石头，头略偏左，浅金色头发被风吹起。脚下是暗褐色岩块，之外是一整片铺满山谷的白雾，只露出几座尖削岩柱与零星小树；更远处山脊层层淡下去，左侧一座圆顶大山，右侧一根平顶岩柱。天空占去上半幅，灰白云里透出一点粉。这些山并非同一处现场：风景取自易北河砂岩山脉，画家先户外写生，再回画室重新拼排，右侧平顶岩柱一般认作齐尔克尔斯坦山，前景岩块来自拉滕附近的甘格里希。人物与近景画得厚、硬、边界清楚，越远颜色越冷越薄，…
